WFUV (90.7 FM)

WFUV is a 50,000 watt radio station servicing listeners in the Tri-State area with alternative music and award-winning reporting. The sports department, specifically, has produced a long history of notable alumni across areas of production, broadcasting and journalism.

I joined the department in 2019, engaging in a year-long training process on all areas of sports broadcasting. With a specific focus on production, I earned the position of Video Coordinator as a sophomore, growing WFUV's digital footprint.

Then, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, putting the sports world and our Saturday talk show One on One: New York's Longest-Running Sports Call-In Show, on pause. After just three months, we responded to the challenge, transitioning One on One into a virtual live stream through a remote production process and developing a cohesive brand identity for WFUV Sports.

Alongside that came an opportunity for increased digital output, adding in an abbreviated, weekday version of the show, One on One Nightly, and releasing clips and interviews on an almost daily basis onto YouTube. From there, the station's beat reporting of New York's professional sports teams and events shifted online, and in time, so too did Fordham Men's Basketball broadcasts.

as the pandemic has subsided and the station's work has transitioned in-studio, this digital focus established during a challenging time has only continued to grow, driving new content opportunities and expanding the department's reach to a nationwide audience.
